- [TechCrunch] Stability AI Raises $76 Million in Fresh Funding ↗
Stability AI, the company behind Stable Diffusion, raised $76 million in new funding and brought its total raised to $232 million. TechCrunch reported that the three major music companies joined the round. A company known first for image generation is now being financed by large music rights holders, pulling generative image and audio tools into the same commercial negotiation. The bigger shift is that rights owners and model companies are moving beyond lawsuits alone and starting to shape investment and licensing terms together.
- [Mashable] Instagram Launches First Draft to Auto-Edit Reels in Under 10 Seconds ↗
Instagram globally launched First Draft, a tool that turns selected videos into a short edited Reel draft. After a user chooses clips from the camera roll and taps the First draft button, the model analyzes the clips, finds highlights, and trims the overall length. In an example shared with Mashable, four minutes and 54 seconds of rollerblading footage became a 17-second Reel. The tool leaves creators free to revise the cut before posting, but it removes some of the repetitive work of finding and assembling usable moments.
- [Storyboard18] YouTube Adds Pre-Publishing Feedback for Shorts and Expands Premium Lite ↗
YouTube is rolling out a Get Feedback tool for Shorts creators and expanding Premium Lite to more than 20 additional countries. Neal Mohan said creators can upload an unlisted Shorts draft and receive tailored suggestions on the hook, pacing, and structure before it goes live. That moves optimization earlier in the creation process instead of leaving creators to react only after performance data arrives. YouTube also named Indonesia, the Netherlands, and Portugal among the new Premium Lite markets.
One line: Model companies are taking rights-holder money, while short-form platforms are pulling draft editing and pre-publish optimization deeper into the app.
