EA is restructuring its studios business and plans to cut about 3% of its global workforce. The company will close BioWare's Edmonton office and stop development of the next Mass Effect title. Respawn and DICE are expected to collaborate on a future project identified by sources as Star Wars: Battlefront 3. EA says it will continue investing in Battlefield and Apex Legends while moving ahead with Marvel's Iron Man and the next Star Wars Jedi game.
- [Variety] Warner Music combines its global recorded-music and publishing sync operations ↗
Warner Music Group is bringing the sync teams from Warner Chappell, Warner Records, Atlantic Music Group, and ADA into one global operation. The unit will give film, television, and advertising clients a single route to recorded-music and publishing rights while handling licensing, administration, and data analytics. Warner says the structure should speed clearances and expand placement opportunities for its artists and songwriters.
- [Deadline] Prime Video India adds Sony LIV as an add-on subscription ↗
Prime Video India is offering Sony LIV as an add-on for ₹399 a month or ₹1,499 a year. The package includes more than 450 films, 300 shows, Sony LIV originals, Indian television programs, and a broad live-sports slate. Rights include bilateral India cricket, the UEFA Champions League, the French Open, and UFC. The deal puts regional entertainment and sports inside a larger streaming storefront and payment relationship.
One line: Entertainment technology is becoming a contest over how studios, rights, and distribution channels are reorganized around the audience.
